Ogimi Village

Assalamaualaikum w.b.t

It's 9.30pm and I'm stuck in front of TV watching Majalah 3. Something to share with all readers about a village in Okinawa, Japan called Ogimi Village. There's nothing really interesting about this village except most of the villagers can live up to 100 years in average! Or in another word we could call them centenarian. What really caught my attention is their secret of longevity. In general most of the Japanese are still active at the golden age. They travel as a couple to other countries, do cycling, active in martial art or yoga.

On an interview with one of the villagers, he said that good health and longevity is not derived from a specific gene pool but rather from a healthy lifestyle and living in a low stress environment! Most of them consume organic food that produced by themselves as compared with the new generation of city dwellers in Tokyo who prefer instant food.

Above is a 93 years old woman in Ogimi Village who still active and enjoy her life to the fullest!
Speaking of food, it's no wonder why we Malaysian in average has 50-60 years old life expectancy because most of us, whether we realize it or not we hardly get healthy meals. Most of the food served at local stall or cafe are oily. too much sugar in it. But I should say not all serve that kind of meals.

"mamak teh tarik kurang manis satu!" and the one arrived has no different with the normal teh tarik.

Plus the fact that youngsters nowadays seem cannot be separated with mamak. Lepak mana? Jom mamak I'm not saying that mamak is not good, it just that the habit of eating at late night is not encouraging the healthy lifestyle.

So this an advise to myself and all of you that we should be careful of what we eat because it's too late to regret it when we have been diagnosed with diabetics or high blood pressure! Even the main cause may not because of the food, but at least we reduce the probability of getting those.

That's it for now. Have a great weekend everyone. Assalamualaikum.
